The Prestige

Being a big fan of Christian Bale (and Christopher Nolan), I was absolutely thrilled when the official trailer for The Prestige was released last week. If you have no idea what the movie is about, or curious to see how the movie will turn out, here's the trailer:

Ah, I love this new layout, because it lets me post videos :D It's cute as well. Do you like this new template?

Cheers :)

A girl called Mary

Here's the video haha.

Whoopsidaisies

Hello. So I would make this entry short since I'm supposed to be studying at the moment. Anywho, life's been okay. All the exam results had been released, and I failed two of them, Econs and GP. And, I'm quite sad that I have no A this time :( :( I just want at least an A.. for Maths at least. Anyway, I shall work harder from now on. I will not commit to any Drama projects for the rest of the year. Enough Drama for 2006.

So the performance in Hwa Chong Junior College and Esplanade went rather well last week. I managed to survive a tough week without my Mom thankfully. So this week has been really relaxing. I was able to go home early everyday (well early compared to the drama days.). In the words of my senior, "I feel more than happy going home when the sun is still shining" haha.

I really need to catch up with my school work. I'm going to try as hard as I can this weekend to make full use of the time for study and resting. I'm planning to go Toa Payoh tomorrow for photoshoot. Haven't done a photoshoot for ages ^^; Sigh, at last a me-day for once.

I must be mad for watching two DVDs yesterday. I watched Leon: The Professional and Notting Hill. One is an action movie, while the other is a romantic film. Actually, I was watching the first 5 minutes of Tomatoe's Silent of the Lamb VCDs. However, the quality of picture is kinda bad (compared to DVD format) and there's no English subtitles (I just love paying close attention to linguistic details when watching amovie), so I decided to switch to Leon. Well, Leon's a really good movie :D Notting Hill as well. (both are reviewed below)

Supergrass' "Mary" has been stuck in my head for the whole of today. I remember seeing the video for the song for the first time in MTV fresh when I was 10 years old haha. Sigh. The video is at the top of this entry.

Anyway, later dudes :)

Movie Reviews
Leon: The Professional (8.0 out of 10)

Well, most action movies are dumb and has zero concerns for plots. However Leon is not such a movie (thankfully). Some parts of it are really action-packed, while others are filled with emotions and the development of the two main characters. Natalie Portman's acting is really superb in this movie. Only 13 years old in the movie, and her acting was already really good. I thought there is a great chemistry between her and Jean Reno. There are some memorable scenes in this movie (I love the posing game scene haha). Oh I cried in the end. Well, that means that this movie is more than an average action movies. The ending was really tragic yet sweet.

Notting Hill (7.5 out of 10)

The chemistry between Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts is amazing. It is as if both of them genuinely feel the love for each other. The plot was kind of typical (with a happy ending). Still, I have a good time watching it. Had a great laugh. I especially like the scene where Hugh was walking through four seasons. How does the director or writer come out with such a great idea? If you like romantic comedy, then you'll like this movie :)

The Week Has Not Ended.. Yet.

I'm not supposed to be typing this. I'm supposed to be in Geography tutorial now haha. Before you think that I'm slowly turning into a ponner, let me explain the situation for you. Today, actually I don't have to come to school, since I'm excused from school for the whole day for Drama involvement. We did a performance yesterday for the SYF Honours Night preview show, and will perform for the real thing tonight. Then, we'll be performing in the Esplanade tomorrow at 3 pm. (Anyone wants to go? Tickets are $15. Other performances in the show include TJC and Singapore Poly.) So anyway, since I got blue slip for the day, I can choose the classes which I want to go to. I can officially skip classes haha. So, even though it's possible for me today to not come to school, I decided to still come to school, and skip GP and Geography. I found out yesterday that for GP, it will be essay writing today. Since GP lesson is in the first period, I decided to come at 9 haha. The security guard stopped me, but he can't send me for detention, since I got blue form haha. Anyway, for Geography, I can foresee that the teacher will be repeating things that have been written in the Geography lecture notes. Hence, I've decided to read it by myself.

I'm very pleased to find out today that I will not be involved in ushering for the International Physics Olympiad closing ceremony. After the horrible experience of the morning of IPhO opening ceremony, I think that this is a good thing (I'm still irritated by the teacher and the councillor, who think she knows what she's talking about when I borrowed the blazer from the blazer room). Besides, I'll need a break, since for the whole of last week, I went to school everyday. Yayness for weekend.

Oh ya, I forgot to write that I was about 5 rows from front in Coldplay concert. The photo doesn't seem to justify that hahaha.

Okie, later dudes.

Stuck in Reverse...

Hello! So, I watched two movies over the weekend: Superman Returns and Requiem for a Dream. The latter is so much better and wiser than the former one, which is more for entertainment sake. Bryan Singer, you let me down. I thought you're gonna at least make Superman fly as high as X-men (both movies are reviewed below).

Hmm.. I've got back two of my test papers. One is okay, the other.. I failed it haha. Chemistry and Econs. Obviously you can guess which one I flunked lol. Anyway, I must work harder for Econs from now on. Do more essays and read more I guess. I'm seriously considering of not doing year-end's drama production. Drama has taken too much of my life this year. And I guess if I'm not involved in the production, I would have more free time to study and relax as well. Therefore, my life will be more balanced I guess :)

Coldplay's concert was great yesterday.

I thought that this picture is perfect to describe the chaoticness in the stadium. It was full house, and the crowd really loves them, singing to almost all of their songs. The use of lighting and screen are really amazing. Very very high tech. This is certainly the best concert I've gone to so far in my life :) The $170 was really well-spent.

I've just seen the first trailer for the Prestige. ARghhhhhhhh. Christian Bale looks quite handsome there hahaha. I soo can't wait for that movie to come out.

Okie, later dudes :)

Movie Reviews
Superman Returns (6.5 out of 10 stars)
Oh man, this movie can be soooo much better. First of all, I think they should create a more focused plot. The plot in the movie is too wide, making the duration of the movie rather long. And, what kinda annoys me as well is the ending. *spoilers* While Superman saves the world (once again), why must Lex Luthor's last scene is him stranded on an island? *spoilers end* The computer generated images are perfect though. Sigh, if Warner Bros is thinking of making a sequel, hopefully they'll make it a better one than this one.

Requiem for a Dream (8.5 out of 10 stars)
Errr okay, this would definitely go to my favourite movies' list (though Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will still occupy first spot). The use of cameras in this movie is really creative, giving audience different perspectives of a scene at a go. The different types of cameras used was also perfect for the different seasons, helping to build up the atmosphere of the scene. I thought the acting of Ellen Burstyn and Jennifer Conelly are great. It is really tragic how the story ended awfully for all of the four main characters. Hmm... be warned though, there are some nudity scenes (including a frontal scene and sex scenes) in this movie. However, these scenes are rather intergral (except one of them) and taking them away would give the movie a feeling of something amiss. This is especially so for the last nudity scene. Anyway, if you're a great great movie buff, this movie is a must-watch! Now I can't wait for Darren Aronofsky's next movie "The Fountain", which stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. Hopefully it'll be as stunning.

A stupid man..

Hahaha... my cheeks are aching so much right now. I've smiled and laughed too much today.

Thanks for the fun conversations we had dear :D

I watched Superman today. I shall review it tomorrow, since I may be watching another movie tomorrow.

Cheers :)

Bright side of Life

I realised that, since Germany didn't get into the Finals, I can sleep peacefully at 9 July 2006. Haha... so that I can live through 10 July well and alive. And that I won't faint in front of Chris Martin.. (or in front of the Security Guard.. if the concert has not even started haha).

Haha, you know there was an article about a month ago stating how women would never be able to understand football. When I read the article for the first time, I disagreed with the author very strongly. But now, looking at all this World Cup hoopla, I kinda side with the author now. Sigh. In a nicer manner of putting it, we'll see who the real football fans are :) Stop changing teams that you support or going with the flow okay please?

Go Man Utd.

Cheers :)

2006 is the year that it is not meant to be.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Late late drama. I thought that it's gonna be decided by penalty shootout. And then my worst nightmare came true.

Sigh... at least I can see them for another match.

Another great team eliminated.

The teams that I respected:
Argentina
Spain
Germany
...
and Ivory Coast (if you watched their match against Netherlands, you'll know how fantastic they actually are.)

2006 is not meant for Germany to be the World Cup Champion.

I am not supposed to....

...... be in school now haha. Okay, this got to be one of the weirdest days. I thought that, even though my Maths paper starts only at 11, I would still have to come early to school. Hahaha.. turns out only the history students that came for assembly. One of my classmates even went home after she found out that she did not need to report to school so early. When I entered the school hall, I was really amused, since the school hall was really empty. When I reached my class' sitting row, I was like, how come only 4 people turn up haha. Well, the rest is history (haha, no pun intended).

Anyway, the long weekend is great. I managed to get a plenty of rest, and of course a great doze of football. Germany once again played well, but England faltered. I kinda expected it though, with that kind of coach they had (past tense, since he's no longer their coach now). I think Eriksson didn't know how to bring out the best of the players. England has great players like Lampard, Gerard, Terry and Rooney, and so I do believe that with a proper coach, they'll excel. I'm thankful that the Eriksson era is over now haha. I still doubt whether Steve McLaren is any good too. Hopefully he can prove me wrong (by the way, he's former Man Utd's assistant manager haha).

If you're a fan of rock, have you heard of Muse's latest album? It rocksss hahaha. At first listen, I find it kinda strange, but after listening to it a few times, I think it's nice :D I listened to it in MTVAsia's The Leak, and now I'm considering of buying the hard piece of it hehe. And yeah, I still envy the lead singer's great talent. He knows how to play guitar, piano and sing really well. He can sing sooooo high, even higher than Adam Levine haha (can you imagine a guy with such a high voice?) If Muse ever comes to Singapore (which I don't know when it will happen), I'll consider watching them. I don't think they'll drop by to Singapore this year, since they're visiting Japan on August and there's still no news of their visit here haha.

7 more days to Coldplay!

I think that today I will sleep really early. 8 pm? So that I can wake up to watch tomorrow's moning match at 3 am. It's Germany versus Italy yeah! Obviously you know who I am supporting haha :D Hopefully Germany wins!

I've downloaded 2 Lost episodes overnight, and one more is 90% done. I can't wait to watch hahaha. The episode with Claire's flashback turns out nice, it's kinda freaky. At last a flashback that is not so far off from the present time of Lost.

I managed to catch Legally Blonde at Channel 5 on Sunday. It's hilarious haha (and it's reviewed below).

Hopefully I can watch Requiem for a Dream today.

Later dudes :)

Movie Review
Legally Blonde (7.0 out of 10 stars)
This movie is so hilarious, though some parts wouldn't have happened in real life I think (wearing pink to court? haha). It's more of a chick-lit, and I thought Reese is good as a comedian, both in a tame manner (Just Like Heaven remember?) and outrageous manner (this movie). A fun movie to watch :)

Saturday, July 01, 2006

oh ya..

I forgot to say that....

I'm so happy that one of Indonesian DevArt friends is coming to Singapore! AHHHHHHHH so happy! Hopefully I can meet her then we can shop together haha.

YAY

Germany is into the semifinal!!! YAYYYYYYYYY!!! The match was outstanding. I really do have a great respect for Argentina. Besides Germany, I think they're the only real contended for the championship. Brazil has not been playing that well : It's really sad that the match had to be decided by penalty, and that they had to meet at such an early stage.

At least one of my beloved teams is into the semifinal. I've lost Spain *cries madly* and Netherlands. I really do think that Spain deserves to be in the quarter final at least. France doesn't deserve it =( Anyway, what's done is done.

So, my exam is almost over haha. I can foresee my grades being either just pass or just fail hahahah. I think I've screwed a lot of the subjects, especially Geog. Oh man, how to study geog well? I mean I can't stand memorising. Gah, now I'm kinda regretting of taking Geog. When I grow up, I'll never encourage my children to take Geography haha.

I think I'll watch Superman, after seeing the positive review for that movie. I can't believe that Devil Wears Prada will only be out on September =( that's so long!

9 more days to Coldplay!

I'd love to go photohunting at the suburbs (like Toa Payoh) after the exam. I need inspiration!! hahaha (I sound so like this week's mission of Project Runway in Discovery Travel and Living. Channel 5 will show it in 2 weeks time haha).

I've just eaten in Shangrila. It's sooooo nice :) Tiramisuu... ahhh. I still love my bread pudding though. Anyone chocolate buffet?

Ok, later guys :)
